Swiss family-owned company Micro is launching a stylish, compact and handy e-scooter for the last mile in cooperation with Japanese carmaker Mazda. The 10-kilo gram Micro Commuter is particularly suitable for commuters and short-distance riders who place a lot of value on portability. Thanks to the intuitive folding mechanism, the e-scooter can be folded in seconds and easily stowed in the trunk or transported on public transportation.

Mazda and Micro share a vision of a sustainable urban mobility strategy. Pure joy of driving as well as a unique design connects the two brands at their core and lets them merge into a purist unit within the scope of this exclusive cooperation. The elegant, aluminum-brushed e-scooter with Micro and Mazda co-branding appeals in particular to aesthetes who want to use a micro-mobility product for the last mile that has been thought through down to the last detail.

A flyweight among the e-scooters

The motor of the Micro Commuter has a maximum power of up to 250 W and accelerates the e-scooter briskly to 20 km/h. Instead of a thumb throttle, as found on most e-scooters, the Micro Commuter has a motorcycle-like throttle twist grip that can be operated more intuitively and precisely, guaranteeing absolute riding fun.

The replaceable battery is attached to the handlebar of the e-scooter and can be used as a power bank to charge mobile devices such as the smartphone or tablet when needed. The 4 Ah battery allows a range of up to 8 kilometers, ideal for short distances in inner-city traffic, such as from the parking lot or train station to the office.

The Micro Commuter's handlebar and hand grips can be folded compactly in seconds. This allows the e-scooter to be easily transported on public transportation or stowed in the trunk of a car. Mazda customers receive the Micro Commuter in a specially made transport bag that can be attached to the trunk of the Mazda CX-60.

Via Bluetooth®, the Mazda Commuter can be connected to the corresponding app on the smartphone, which displays valuable driving information such as speed, distance, or battery charge status. The integrated turn-by-turn navigation system also shows the shortest route to the target destination. The Micro Commuter has two riding modes, the sport mode with a maximum speed of 20 km/h, and a pedestrian mode limited to 6 km/h.

In addition to portability and design, safety and comfort also play an important role: thanks to the footboard with anti-slip coating, both feet find a firm and secure stand. The solid rubber wheels allow the driver to dash effortlessly over uneven terrain. The ergonomically shaped handlebar with rubber grips provide additional comfort. The Micro Commuter is braked either via the electric motor brake on the twist grip, with a drum brake on the front wheel or via the foot brake on the mudguard. Moving the twist grip forward activates the kinetic recuperation system for braking and recharges the battery at the same time. A bell is integrated on the handbrake, which can be used to attract attention in city traffic. In addition, the homologated LED lights at the front and rear, as well as the side reflectors, also allow safe riding at dusk or in the dark.

The Micro Commuter has the necessary road approval in Germany. The e-scooter already comes with all the necessary requirements, such as the license plate holder, the type plate and the ABE. The owner only has to take care of the mandatory liability insurance.
