About us
We are the company established by Wim Ouboter in 1996 which invented the world-famous Micro Scooter. Our goal is to make urban mobility practical and time-saving. All our products were developed to reflect our vision of space-saving micro mobility and are, consequently, ideal for covering short distances.
A young, highly motivated team takes care of development and marketing of Micro in over 80 countries around the world. We provide dozens of mobility devices for children, adolescents and adults under the Micro brand name.
Next to the purely functional side of a product, we also place enormous emphasis on design and quality because, in addition to being fun and practical, our scooters should also embody a maximum level of appeal – for as long as possible. It is no accident that we are the most popular scooter brand amongst the stars, counting over 250 celebrities as our customers.
We have set ourselves the goal of redefining tomorrow's mobility through high-quality products with an unpretentious, timeless design. Whether with the electric Microlino mini-format e-vehicle or our scooters and kickboards, the mobility of the future will not only be space saving and practical, but also make travelling a lot of fun again!
Die Micro Erfolgsgeschichte
"Have you ever had the feeling that a distance is too far to walk but too close to get the bike or even the car out of the garage?"
The same question occured to Wim Ouboter on the way from his apartment in Zurich to his favourite sausage stand, the legendary Sternengrill. In search of a practical means of transport for the 1-kilometre-long microdistance, the Swiss entrepreneur invented the Micro Scooter. In his attempt to turn his vision of Micro Mobility into reality, there was only on problem: how do you bring such a product onto the market with little money and no experience in this industry?
After the initial stumbling blocks, Wim found a suitable distribution partner in the sports brand K2. Together, they brought the three-wheeled kickboard onto the market and celebrated huge sales success. In 1997, Wim founded his own company, Micro Mobility Systems AG, with the proceeds rom the kickboard sales. After that, his two-wheeled Micro Scooter also made the big breakthrough, with 80,000 of them sold daily, totalling more than 30 million in one year.
